I’m an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Loyola Marymount University. My research lies at the intersection of ubiquitous computing, wearable sensing, digital health, and computing education.
I investigate how data collected from wearable devices, smartphones, and other sensor-rich technologies can be used to model and understand human behavior. My research focuses on human activity recognition, mobile sensing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods that transform raw sensor data into meaningful measures of physical activity, health, and well-being. Through collaborations in health sciences, nutrition, and education, I develop and evaluate digital health technologies that support health monitoring, behavior change, and user engagement in real-world settings.
I also conduct research in Computing Education Research (CER), examining evidence-based approaches to teaching computer science and strategies for increasing student engagement and success.
I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Georgia and joined Loyola Marymount University in 2020.
I’m originally from Tehran, Iran. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, practicing yoga, spending time in nature, and exploring new cultures and experiences.
